Delete Your Awayward Account
How to request deletion of your Awayward account and the data associated with it
The Awayward mobile app is provided by Awayward, Inc. (“Awayward”). This page explains how to request deletion of your Awayward account and the personal data associated with it, what is deleted, what we may keep, and for how long. For full detail on how we handle your data, see our Privacy Notice.
How to delete your account
You can request deletion from within the Awayward app at any time:
- Open the Awayward app and sign in to your account.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm when prompted. Your account is then deactivated and your deletion request is processed.
If you can no longer sign in to the app, you can instead request deletion by emailing privacy@awayward.com from the email address on your account. We may need to verify your identity before acting on the request.
What data is deleted
When you delete your account, we delete or irreversibly de-identify the platform and account data Awayward holds about you as controller, including:
- your account profile and login credentials;
- registration and identity-verification details (name, date of birth, country of citizenship, contact details, and government-ID verification data);
- intake-form responses and any health information you entered into the app;
- in-app messages within the post-consultation follow-up window, and any AI-tool inputs and outputs;
- customer-support communications and saved preferences.
What we keep, and for how long
We retain a limited amount of data only where we have a legal or legitimate business reason to do so, and only for as long as that reason applies. This may include:
- Transaction and tax records — billing and payment-confirmation records we are required to keep to meet tax, accounting, and audit obligations, retained for the period required by the applicable law;
- Records needed for legal claims or safety — the minimum information needed to resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our terms, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims;
- De-identified and aggregated data — data that has been irreversibly de-identified so it can no longer be linked to you, which we may keep on an ongoing basis.
Retention periods vary by category of information and by the requirements of the applicable law. When we no longer need personal information, we delete it or irreversibly de-identify it. See the Data Retention section of our Privacy Notice for more detail.
Clinical records held by your provider
Any formal clinical record created during a consultation is held and controlled by the independent, locally licensed provider who treated you — on the provider’s own systems, under the law of the country in which the provider is licensed — not by Awayward. Deleting your Awayward account does not delete that clinical record, which the provider is required to retain for the period their local law requires (for example, in Mexico, at least five years under NOM-004). To access or request changes to that record, contact the provider directly, as described in our Privacy Notice.
