Awayward
Coming soon

Coverage for life abroad is coming to Awayward.

From a two-week trip to a two-year relocation, we are building coverage that works with the care you already get from Awayward. It will be offered through established, licensed insurance partners.

Awayward is not an insurance company and does not currently sell insurance. Joining the waitlist does not create coverage.

Waitlist

Join the waitlist now.

Be the first to hear when coverage launches, with early access to launch updates before anyone else. Tell us where you are headed, how long for, and where you are based, and we will send you the news that applies to you rather than all of it.

We ask these three questions so we can send you the launch news that applies to you. No health questions, and we will not share your details with anyone else.

Awayward is not an insurance company and does not currently sell insurance. Future products will be offered by licensed insurance producers and underwritten by licensed insurers. Availability, coverage and eligibility will vary by state and country of residence. Joining the waitlist does not create coverage, an application or a guarantee of eligibility, and nothing on this page is an offer to sell or a solicitation to buy insurance. Awayward’s physician network is a separate service, sold on its own.

Care you can use today

The care comes first. The coverage follows it.

Most cover abroad starts with a policy and hopes care turns up at the other end. Awayward started with the care: vetted, English-speaking doctors licensed in 30+ countries, available by video around the clock. That network is live now, and it is what any future coverage would be built around.

A doctor in under 10 minutes

Request a consultation at any hour and get paired with a physician by video, in minutes rather than days. No clinic to find, no waiting room, no appointment weeks out.

In English, by a doctor licensed where you are

Every provider speaks fluent English and holds a current licence in the country treating you, so you describe your symptoms in your own words to someone who can actually act on them.

14 days of continuous care

Follow-ups for the same issue stay with the same case and the same team for two weeks, by chat, with no second charge and no retelling your story.

Your history travels with you

Every provider you see, in any country, works from your full medical history. Vetted on licensing, malpractice cover, credentials and triage training before a single consult.

Why it breaks down

A policy is not the same thing as a doctor.

People abroad rarely fail to buy cover. They buy it, then discover that having cover and getting care are two different problems.

You pay first and argue later

Most policies abroad reimburse. You find the clinic, front the cost, keep the paperwork, and hope the claim comes back whole, months later.

The hardest part is being understood

A policy card does not translate your symptoms. Finding a clinician who speaks your language is the real barrier, and it arrives on the worst possible day.

Nobody knows what is covered

Coverage questions get answered by a call centre in another time zone, with no view of your care and no way to tell you what happens next.

What we are building

Different lengths of time abroad need different products.

A fortnight away and a move overseas are not the same purchase, and they are not governed by the same rules. We are working on all three with licensed partners, and we will say plainly which one you are looking at.

Short trips

A two-week trip

Travel insurance, the kind written for a defined trip. A separate category from health insurance, with its own rules and its own disclosures.

Extended stays

A season, a semester, a contract

Travel medical cover for a longer stay abroad, typically written up to a year. Again, not health insurance, and not a substitute for cover at home.

Relocation

A move, not a trip

International private medical insurance, the category built for people living abroad long term. It is distinct from a plan bought at home, and it is underwritten.

Travel insurance is not health insurance, and international medical cover is not a replacement for insurance at home. Each product will be offered by licensed partners, with its own terms, limitations and exclusions shown in full before anyone buys anything.
